Ramsbottom & Edenfield Team Ministry

Lest we Forget

After the worries of covid and the closure of our churches, it was truly wonderful to see Ramsbottom come together yesterday morning at St Paul’s for the Service of Remembrance.
From the March Past with the Uniformed Groups led by the band, to the laying of wreaths it was a humbling sight. The clock chimed at 11.00am the last post was played, and the flags were lowered, whereby the two minute silence was kept by all. Recalled memories showing in the faces of many in the crowd.
The service continued in church, ending with the rousing singing of Jerusalem. Our young uniform groups (Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Army Cadets) were an example to all. Their leaders should be very proud of their exemplary behaviour throughout.
St Philip’s and Stubbins Vale Mills also had their service of Remembrance, where nearly a hundred souls aged from a few months to over 80 years gathered in two Acts of Remembrance.
The British Legion supported every event and made us proud.
How fortunate that we are to freely gather together in these acts of Remembrance throughout the area after last year where we had to be so careful of social distancing.
