St Paul’s Church, Ramsbottom

St Paul’s is located in a prime position in the centre of Ramsbottom. We are a growing congregation who offer a warm welcome to the many visitors who arrive in town, as well as local people.

Our services are traditional, with alternate weeks of Holy Communion and Family Worship each Sunday at 11.00am; as well as a fortnightly 8.15am Book of Common Prayer service. In addition, we also host a mid-week Book of Common Prayer, Holy Communion service on Tuesdays at 10.30am, which attracts worshippers from a wide area, followed by a friendly coffee and chat.

We have a thriving Sunday school, which currently ranges from 12 months to 12 years. Our Sunday school plays a vital and growing role within weekly services, with a changing focus in line with the ecumenical calendar. We welcome all families to join our lively Sunday mornings!

A group of enthusiastic and dedicated ringers, led by the captain of the bells, Graham Lord, ensures the peal of eight bells is regularly heard, and have become a treasured feature across the local community. Being lucky enough to have a bell tower, we are always welcoming fellow bell ringers throughout the county to visit.

Our building is used by a wide variety of local groups and has a large parish room and excellent kitchen facilities at the rear of the church. We open the church to visitors most Saturday mornings, and are well known for our ‘coffee and bacon butties’. Being in the heart of the community, we are closely involved with all the local events, such as the 40’s Weekend and the Chocolate Festival to name but a few.

A very well attended Parent and Toddler Group meets weekly on a Friday morning in term-time; A Keep Fit to music session, is held on a Tuesday afternoon for those of a slightly older age group, which is extremely well supported and enjoyed by all; and we also hold a Ladies Group once a month which features invited speakers and social activities.

Something we have become well known for, is our annual Jigsaw Festival which runs in September, and is extremely well attended by people from far and wide; and is just entering it’s sixth year…
